Introducing PBLL

Teks:

Explaining what is vocabulary in English.

Speaking Text : Vocabulary in English refers to the collection of words and expressions that an individual or a community of speakers understands, uses, and can recognize. It encompasses a broad range of terms, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and other linguistic elements, that enable communication and comprehension. A person's vocabulary reflects their linguistic knowledge and proficiency, influencing their ability to convey thoughts, ideas, and emotions effectively.

Developing a rich and diverse vocabulary is essential for effective communication, reading comprehension, and overall language proficiency. It involves acquiring an understanding of word meanings, usage in context, and the nuances that accompany different terms within the English language. Continuous exposure to varied texts, conversations, and learning resources contributes significantly to the expansion and refinement of one's vocabulary.

Vocabulary can be oral, written, or signed and can be categorized into two main types:

1.     Passive vocabulary: This includes the words that a person recognizes or understands.

2.     Active vocabulary: This includes the words that a person uses regularly in speech and writing.

For example from my article review :

1.     Camera - Kamera – Kamera.

2.     Lenses – Lens -  Lensa.

3.     Zoom – Zum – Perbesar.

Speaking Text :

In English, there are several types of "vocabulary" that include:

1.     Word classes: This encompasses nouns, adjectives, and verbs.

2.     Word formation: This is related to the ways in which words are created in the language.

3.     Word families: These consist of words derived from the same root.

4.     Multi-Word Units: Such as phrases or idioms.

5.     Collocations: These are words that are frequently used together in the same language.

6.     Homonyms, homophones, and homographs: These are words with similarities or differences in spelling, pronunciation, or meaning.

Additionally, there are other types of "vocabulary" such as active vocabulary, passive vocabulary, expressive vocabulary, and receptive vocabulary. All these types of vocabulary are crucial to master in order to enrich understanding and usage of the English language.

Conclusion :

In summary, vocabulary in English means the words we know and use. It includes nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other words that help us communicate. Having a good vocabulary is important for talking and writing well. There are two main types of vocabulary: passive (words we understand) and active (words we use). To get better at vocabulary, it's helpful to read, talk to people, and use different learning resources. Overall, having a strong vocabulary helps us express our thoughts and ideas better.
